MOVING TO THE CLOUD: A REVIEW OF THE IMPACT AND STRATEGIES FOR NIGERIA DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
The rapid growth of digital technologies has positioned cloud computing as a vital driver of economic and digital transformation in developing economies. This study looks at how cloud computing has helped Nigeria's digital economy, socioeconomic advancement, and recent economic expansion. The study evaluates the impact of cloud-based technologies to Nigeria's GDP, innovation, and service delivery by synthesizing current academic literature, policy papers, and national digital strategies using a descriptive and analytical review technique. The review shows that cloud computing has significantly improved operational efficiency, reduced ICT infrastructure costs, and enhanced access to digital services across critical sectors such as finance, education, healthcare, agriculture, and public administration. These improvements have supported business scalability, entrepreneurship, job creation, and productivity growth, thereby strengthening Nigeria�s economic performance. The report also reveals a growing correlation between Nigeria's recent economic boom and digital transformation projects, such as the growth of fintech, e-commerce, digital platforms, and e-government services, all of which rely significantly on cloud infrastructure. The study also emphasizes how crucial strategic frameworks and governmental policies are to promoting cloud usage and digital transformation. Initiatives related to the digital economy, broadband expansion, data protection, and ICT innovation have contributed to a more supportive regulatory environment. Nevertheless, issues like poor digital infrastructure, a lack of expertise in cloud computing, cybersecurity risks, and low regulatory enforcement continue to limit the full advantages of cloud computing. According to the study's findings, cloud computing can help Nigeria accelerate its digital transformation and maintain long-term economic growth. To optimize the developmental impact of cloud technology, it suggests greater infrastructure investment, efficient policy enforcement, capacity building, reinforced cybersecurity measures, and improved public-private collaborations
